Can't Go Back Now

It seems to me that the past couple of years have been steeped in self-exploration, yet I'm not really sure if I'm figuring it out, and I definitely don't know that I'm solving my problems. There comes a point in everyone's life where we decide who we really are. Sometimes we just have to be happy with what we see. There is so much of me I don't know about yet, at the same time, how will I ever find out who that person is if I never DO anything? So..here it is. The growing list of the adventures I want to take-some close to home, some not-and things that I think would be cool to do. Some of them are close to my heart, others are just for fun, but overall, I need to make a life for myself and not feel like I'm just going through the motions. I'm not the kind of person who will ever save the world. I don't have any super cool ideas, and I hate doing things that are scary. I am not an exhibitionist, although I don't mind making a fool of myself. So what is the point? The point is that I AM here. So I might as well make the best of this time that I've been blessed with. Hopefully I find myself along the way. No matter what, though, it's time to move forward-no matter how important or unimportant moments in life may seem. I'm not the person I was..and I can't go back now.

PS..the title of this post is a song by The Weepies (it might sound familiar because it's been in a Barack Obama campaign ad)

Here are the lyrics:

Yesterday when you were young
Everything you needed done was done for you
Now you do it on your own
But you find you're all alone, what can you do?

You and me walk on, walk on, walk on
'Cause you can't go back now

You know there will be days
When you're so tired
That you can't take another step
The night will have no stars
And you'll think you've gone as far
As you will ever get

You and me wak on, walk on, walk on
'Cause you can't go back now

And yeah, yeah, you go where you want to go
Yeah, yeah, be what you want to be
If you ever turn around, you'll see me

I can't really say
Why everybody wishes they were somewhere else
But in the end, the only steps that matter
Are the ones you take all by yourself

You and me walk on, walk on, walk on
Yeah, you and me walk on, walk on, walk on
'Cause you can't go back now
Walk on, walk on, walk on
You can't go back now
